Three Belle Swiss

three-belle-swissI was doing a quick run through Reading Terminal and hit up Fair Food Farmstand to see what cheeses were in that day. I noticed a new cheese brand, Three Belle Cheese . Looked good, nice bright label with a cute drawing, and, what’s this, goat’s milk “Swiss” cheese. I had to try some!

Three Belle Cheese (their website is still under development) is located in Mifflinburg, PA. According to their info on the Penn State AgMap website, they have over 150 dairy goats and make their cheeses from raw milk.

The cheese has a nice bright white color, with a semi-firm paste. There were very few air holes. The cheese was quite unusual. It definitely have a mild Emmental-like taste (I guess the dairy is going for an “American Swiss” style here), but with the traditional goat’s milk tang. I really only got to have a couple of bites as my SO devoured the rest. So, I guess that is a positive vote!

I’m encouraged to seek out the other cheses from this dairy as I’m always a sucker for goat’s milk.
